Varad Vinayaka Temple Mahad Origin
It is believed that a revered saint named Grutsamad set up the Varad Vinayaka Temple at Mahad. The saint had done strong penance for a long period of time and invoked Lord Vinayaka (Ganapati) who, pleased with this devotion, granted him his wish for self-purification & for the permanent presence of Vinayaka in that place. This place is considered very holy & the temple is believed to be more than 300 years old. Historical records state that Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and the Peshwas donated funds to this temple.
